Chalet 6, Wormadale, Whiteness, Shetland, ZE2 9LJ. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Shetland and the Chalet has completely unobscured views over Nesbister and Whiteness Voe – just the place to appreciate a beautiful Shetland sunset. The Chalet is an ideal place to escape the stress of everyday life, with nearby hill and coastal walks, interesting local history, fishing and wildlife
Wormadale is on the West side of Shetland (the sunny side), only 15 minutes from Lerwick by car, and is also on a main bus route. The scenery in the west of Shetland is some of the most beautiful and although walking or cycling is the best way to enjoy the scenery, a car ride can take you quickly to any other area of Shetland
To get to the Chalet from Lerwick, take the A970 heading north and then at Tingwall, turn left to go west. You will see Tingwall airstrip – this is where all the inter-island flights leave from and also occasional emergency hospital flights to Aberdeen. A few minutes later you will reach a view point just above the Westings Hotel, from where you can see stunning views over the Whiteness Voe and Nesbister. Just around the ‘sweeping corner’ you will come to a sharp left turn into Nesbister. Follow this road for a few yards and then branch left and up the hill to Wormadale. From here you will see the ten colourful chalets – Chalet No 6 is the first one you come to
To get to the Chalet from Sumburgh Airport, take the A970 heading north and then turn left at the main junction past Gulberwick, sign-posted Scalloway and the North. At the next junction turn right heading north until you reach the Brig of Fitch junction – turn left on to the A970 heading north. Then continue as above
